5 Reasons Why Fantastic 4 Failed

5 Reasons Why Fantastic 4 Failed

1. Bad acting

I think we can all agree to disagree that the acting in Fantastic 4 was below average and it's a shame, because at least 2 of them are really good actors with some good movies under their belts (I'll let you decide which ones are "Good".)

I thought the ability of acting was low in most of the scenes and i felt like they couldn't convince me in believing in their acting skills. Such as the first time they traveled to the planet they discovered with the teleportation machine and acting like they were all surprised, looking around at the scenery around them and in this, i found it hard to believe that they just landed on a uninhabited planet.

I know they were in a green room for this scene, with no physical scenery around them, but if they are professional actors, im expecting them to deliver and make me believe in them.

Another example is when Dr. Franklin Storm gets killed by Dr Doom, with Franklin's son & daughter witnessing this horrific event, but was it so horrific that his siblings got over his death with in seconds? I found that the two actors lacked remorse, sadness and anger within this scene and his death passed far to quickly.

2. Choice Of Actors

Even though you might think these are top class actors with amazing movies to their names, but were they the right choice of actors for the Fantastic 4 movie and for the roles they portrayed? My opinion is no. This is because i thought they were a little too inexperienced and too young. "Too young?" You might ask, but yes, too young and i only think this because Fantastic 4 is originally a mature cast within the comic books and even in the previous 2005 & 07 movies. Also being portrayed to play young roles to their names, i felt like the Director and writers tried to make it into a teen super hero movie to gain popularity, but miserably back fired on them.

Some of you may also think "Who the hell are these actors?" and this might put some people off, even before going to watch it at the cinema with your friends and i got to tell you, some of these actors have decent movies out, but it's the wide range of genre the four of them typically play. Ranging from TV horror, to a drunken teen movie, then to a POV Sci-Fi movie and finally a movie about a school boy who wants to do Ballet...Yes Ballet! So can you see my point? I don't think their previous movies gave them the right chemistry to play in this movie and hey... I could be wrong.

3. Wasn't As Good As The Last

The only way i can make you see how un-entertaining this movie really was is to compare it to the 2005& 07 movies, those movies was the best back in the day! I mean you had a great cast, it was funny, it was interesting and it was jam packed full of action scenes.

Speaking of a great cast you had Jessica Alba for god sake... The women who got crowned sexiest women in the world at at the same time of filming Fantastic 4. Plus Chris Evans, Captain America... Captain America i say! Also Michael Chiklis who played The Thing, already kind of looked like a bald version of it already and so he was perfect for the role, not to sound like a D*ck, but he was.

All i'm saying is if you haven't seen the 2005 & 2007 previous movies, go and watch them now and compare them to the 2015 version. I promise you, you will be surprised how much more entertaining the original versions are to this movie... if you can call it a movie that is.

4. The Director Hated His Own Creation

OK, this is the last thing anyone would want to read before watching any movie at all and i feel sorry for the hardcore fantastic 4 movie fans, after the Director tweeted this. I mean, what the hell is he thinking? Even if the Director thought the was movie bad, you don't tell the whole world because that will make everyone think it's not worth watching or they might go into the movie with negative thoughts, ruining their entire experience.

I think that Josh Trank (Director) was trying to jump on the bandwagon after getting bad reviews by everyone, making us think that he accepts the movie was terrible, but i bet you in reality he's probably crying somewhere.

5. It Was Rushed

Probably the main reason why everyone hated this movie so much, it was simply rushed. It was rushed because it started off really interesting, while we see a young boy and his dream to build a teleportation machine in his parents garage. Then the young boy gets older and smarter, perfecting his mistakes he made on the machine, to being invited to make a real life sized version of it.

This is where the intriguing part of the movie ends, it ends here because once they have the machine, Dr Doom is basically born and brought back to planet earth and ends with the worst Sci-Fi battle in history of movies EVER! The End.

It was like they wanted the movie to be in depth and capture scenes they missed out in the previous movies, which they did and then it failed so quickly towards they end where Dr Doom tries to destroy planet Earth.

Surely they could of made it into a two part-er like they did back in the day of 2005 and 07?!

Your Thoughts

  2. I love the Fantastic Four movies that came out a few years ago. They are campy as all get out but that is what I love about them. I want to see the new one but figured it wouldn't be that great so I'm waiting for it to air ondemand.

    1. Probably the best idea to be honest! You will regret wasting your money and the older ones were the best weren't they?!

  3. The director tweeted that negative comment because the studio killed an earlier version of the movie that he thinks would have been better. This is nothing new in Hollywood , Charlton Heston once said the problem with Hollywood to artist is that it's a business the problem with Hollywood to business men is that it's an art. The whole right side and left side of the brain is in constant warfare in Hollywood. Guillermo Del Toro wanted to make a movie based on the writings of HP LOVECRAFT called "At The Mountains Of Madness" now the story is dark and pessimistic and that's the film Del toro wanted to make but the studio wanted it to have a happy ending and a love story (Whut? i know, I can't believe it) . The studio and Del toro wouldn't budge and the fun never got made. Ridley Scott made Prometheus which was kind of like at the mountain's of madness. so now toro says the film will probably never get made.

    1. So basically it's the studies/companies/distributors are the ones ruining the ideas of the directors and so on? That must be frustrating if that's the case!!

  4. well that's what directors claim. I don't know if it's true. But on the side of the studios you gotta think hey I'm putting in all this money and this guy wants to make a movie that won't sell. Both sides have a point and they both have their self interest. But when a movie is successful both sides claim they are responsible for it and when it fails they blame the other side.

    1. I can imagine how horrible that must feel I bet they only let well know directors just do their own thing and boss all the underdog directors on what to do.

  5. yep that's true. The big directors can make some bad films and get a pass but the little guys get the shaft even when they're not responsible for it.

    1. If that's true, I wouldn't even bother making the movie if I was him!

    1. Exactly. It's like what I said about the director hating his own movie, it will just put people off and ruin their experience!
